Sisters: 6 Months In

I was so excited to find out Brooke was a girl. That meant both my girls would have something I never had: a sister. There is no way to predict what kind of relationship siblings will end up having, but I really hope to foster a tight bond between the two of them. I want them to be each other's best friend while still having their own individual, strong friendships with their own set of friends. I'm debating moving them into one room or keeping them in separate rooms when they are a little older. I always thought that sharing a room with a hypothetical sister would be so much fun. Anyways, they now have 6 months of sisterhood under their belts, and I have a lot of hope for them.

"Brooke, watch this!"

"Brooke, come play wif me!"

Audra loves being all up in Brooke's business. She also gets mad if Brooke messes up something of hers or takes it. She has no problem taking Brooke's toys out of her hand, of course. She gets in her crib and plays with and steals her toys. She helps me cheer Brooke on when we encourage her to try crawling. She hugs her and kisses the top of her head. She will bring books and read them to her. She loves to mimic things I say to Brooke.

"You trickster!"

If Brooke laughs at something Audra does, Audra does it over and over again. She likes to help me feed Brooke (at least a bite or two before she is over it). She is *so* proud of her baby sister when her friends come over - she loves showing her off. She can't wait for the day Brooke can dance with her and they can twirl around and around. She actually tried that today when she was supposed to just be helping Brooke stand.

"Brooke, watch this!"

Audra loves showing off lately, especially to Brooke. She insists she watch her climb things at the park, do silly break dancing like tricks and pretty much anything she's proud of doing.

Brooke on the other hand isn't quite as obsessed with Audra, but she is starting to give her more smiles and laughs. She kicks Audra in the bathtub. but for some reason Audra thinks it is funny.

"Haha, stop kicking me, Brooke, hahaha. Brooooooke, stop it, giggle giggle giggle."

If Audra hands her a toy or item, she pretty much just tries to eat it - so I have to keep a close eye on what Audra is sharing with her.

"Brooke's awake. Hooray!!! I go get her."
