3 Years Married: Leather

Today's our 3rd wedding anniversary, and this third year has been a whirlwind! From our life nearing the end of graduate school with an infant in Texas to a state of limbo and in-betweens and now to a much different life.

The traditional material for the third anniversary is leather. Coincidentally, we happen to have a new leather sofa to go into our house as an anniversary gift to ourselves. Jessica's parents had bought a leather couch set (recliner, reclining sofa, reclining loveseat, and ottoman) in Dec 2007/Jan 2008. After more than 6.5 years, it still looks great and feels even better.

Jessica wanted to get the same brand and line for our house. She even wanted the same color set as her parents' set (Dodge City). One weekend, we did a bit of online searching for the Flexsteel brand and their Dylan line. We found a few stores that carried the line and submitted quote requests. The mom-and-pop warehouse furniture store in a nearby town quoted us such a lower price than the gallery-type furniture store that we essentially did a double-take to make sure they had quoted us correctly. Sure enough, they did and they had one heck of a deal on delivery and for cash payment.

We decided to go with just a normal sofa (that's the biggest piece we could fit on the wall) and the larger cocktail ottoman (need room for our legs since Zoe is a big fan of sitting on the ottoman).  It took about 4 weeks for the set to come in, and it sat in the warehouse for 2 weeks until we closed on the house. This past Saturday, in the middle of our move-in ruckus and the Arkansas-Texas A&M game, the set was delivered!

Not a great picture at nighttime with my phone camera.
It's our first sofa set that hasn't been a hand-me-down, and we're looking forward to more than 6.5 years of enjoying it. Zoe's already claimed this ottoman as her perch.
