More Changes
This week has been a crazy week. My parents, JT, and his girlfriend came in to visit for their spring break. They drove all day Sunday and Thursday, and the time they were here was pretty packed. One of the perks of living near a tourist town is that there is a ton to do. Beach, outlet mall, air show practice session, decent restaurants, etc. - much fun was had.
This trip was up in the air for a long time due to the progress on my parents' house that they are building. One of the main reasons it actually happened is because of the decision we all made that it would be best if Zoe went to live with them. It was something we all knew was for the best but hard to actually decide. When you get a dog, you expect them to be your dog from that day forward until something happens to you or them. When that plan changes, it is hard to accept.
Zoe hasn't been the same dog since we moved here. She started doing a yelping desperate bark when we got home and randomly throughout the day. She preferred being upstairs even when everyone else was downstairs. We didn't have the time and energy to walk her regularly with all of our house projects and childcare duties. In addition, when my mom was here for Brooke's birth and the following weeks after and since the passing of their older dog in December, my parents' younger dog was having some major anxiety about being left alone at home while my dad went to work and did other things he couldn't bring a dog to. My parents didn't want to have to get a new dog whose personality and needs were unknown, and Zoe has been very happy the many times we have visited/lived there, so it is pretty much the "duh" conclusion.

Poor Zoe! Hopefully she'll be happier back home in Texas.
ReplyDeleteI think she is already settling in well. Audra is okay with it as well, which I was most concerned about.
