Brooke: 3 Months!
Milestones: Cooing. Big smiles! You can roll easily back to front on a slight incline (making laying you next to Mommy on the bed difficult).
Weight/Height: 14+ lbs according to our home scale. Not sure height, she was 23 3/4" at her 2 month appointment which was 2 weeks late.
Clothing Size: 6-month mostly. I squeeze you into 3-6 months still, but they just don't seem as comfortable.
Eating: You went through a big growth spurt towards the beginning of the month, but you are eating much less these days. You spit up less overall but still have your bad days. You have been shoving your fist too far back into your mouth and causing a gag reflex that results in spitting up recently.
Health: A slightly runny nose is luckily the extent of any sickness this month. So happy you didn't catch any of your sister's many illnesses.
Sleep: Night sleep went through a slight regression mid-month where you were waking up every 3 hours for a few days, I'm assuming it's because of a growth spurt. It then went to a 6-hour long stretch most nights and now you are having 9-11 hour stretches. After mostly naps on the Boppy on my bed (I know, not advised) for most of the month, at 12 weeks I made the push for you to nap in the crib and surprisingly, it has been working. The naps themselves are much shorter (45 min), but all it takes is a well-fed baby, a clean diaper, and about 3 min of butt or back patting while you stare at yourself in the mirror and suck your hands, and you are out.
Random Tidbits: Your pitiful whimper is so sweet, and you have quite the uggghhhhh annoyed whine cry - "doooo weeee haaave tooo" style. You are totally into interacting with us now and love when we talk to you.
How are Mommy and Daddy Doing?: We are pretty exhausted. So ready for things to get back in that nice groove they were getting in before we had someone sick each week for the past 6 weeks. You are easy going enough that you make it so much easier than it could be, though. On average, your sister and you both go to sleep around 10pm (+/- 1 hour), so that means we're not going to sleep until at least 11pm every night. Daddy then gets up at 6am (if not sooner) to go to work, whereas Mommy will get up anywhere between 5am and 8am based on when your sister and you wake up. Given that schedule, there's hardly enough continuous free time to do anything worthwhile.
How is Big Sister doing? She is loving that you are more awake now, and you coo and smile at her. She likes to dangle "Brooke's toys" in front of your face, and she is looking forward to you actually grabbing them. At the playground, she says "Brooke, watch this!" and generally just loves having you in her life.
Looking Forward To: Leaving your birth state for the first time. First airplane ride (to Texas!) and long car trips. Some more motor control.
