The 4th
Due to paperwork being too difficult for some agencies, Chi got to spend the 4th of July with us. It was nice to enjoy it as a family now that Audra is older and more observant.
When we first got to the park, we went ahead and checked out the petting zoo, since it wasn't very crowded, and we had some time to kill before the parade. Audra did really well, and while she was a little afraid from time to time, she did pet a few of the animals. She kept pointing at the ponies next to the petting zoo for pony rides, and it would have been nice to have had time for her to try that out as well.
We managed to snap a family picture in which Chi's eyes were not closed.
Last year I had a number of red white and blue outfits, but this year her wardrobe was lacking this particular color scheme, so she wore the too-big dress that was a gift from Chi's aunts/cousins.
Later that night, we went over to a friend's house for some delicious food, and then we walked down to a nearby field to watch the fireworks. Audra was getting super loopy, as she does when it is way past her bedtime, but when the fireworks started, she was entranced. Then after about 5 minutes into the 13-minute long show, she got bored and started crawling on me on the ground.
Fairly low-key, but an overall good holiday.

During the parade and being pushed around in her stroller, you could tell she was getting hot and tired. I was surprised to find she was much more into the kettle corn than the shaved ice, but both brought up her mood and energy level tremendously.
